You're Back and I Left

Glad you're back, I hope you had fun in Europe; I just got into Chicago. You just have to love Gargantuan Thomas. I was thinking a nice way to run a show is to have a through line, it could be theme, or a character, or even a bit like Mondo Eventa where things don't seem connected but really they are. One of the best shows I saw at Second City was "Holy War Batman! or The Yellow Cab of Courage" where unrelated characters had their own funny sketches and the through line was they all at one point ended up in a cab of this nice afghani man right after September 11. There were also completely unrelated sketches that where just funny that they wanted to put in, but the audience loves when things come together. Something to think about.

Another thing to think about is we shouldn't shy away from serious scenes because when they work the tension really makes people want to laugh when they get the chance.

Also I love the whole Dani and Tom French Jazz singing, we should think of more songs, it could be a great running gag as a bunch of black out sketches between scenes. I think the 'Friends' Theme song has potential. I have a French friend if we need translations.

I'm off to see my friends the Dolphins of Damnation tomorrow, I'm sure it will start to get my mind rolling again for funny things.

One last thing to think about: Our audience will be American so we don't want to rip the piss out of them TOO much, they still have to like us and stereotypes can be too cliché and over done. We must be careful not to make jokes they won't get like Germans and beach towels on chairs is completely lost on them. Much like this joke will probably lost on you:

Canada got its name by picking out letters from a scrabble bag:
"C - eh?"
"N - eh?"
"D - eh?"

Maybe there is a sketch in that...jokes lost on other cultures? Hmmmmm?

Post!

Aww, it’s our first (of hopefully many) posts. I thought this would be a good little dusty corner of the web to place our ramblings and funny ideas. I'm the first here so I'll start... I heard someone once say the word Horse-puppies, I liked it, I try to use it more in conversation. Oddly enough the person really meant a Maize-maze, but I still like the word horse-puppies. Not quiet a sketch idea just thought I would share.

Feel free to change what you like on the site, add pictures, links, add post with just ideas, funny things that have happened to you, or whole scripts! We can comment or write new posts in response; bounce ideas off each other, create synergy, no I in team, no U in salami, but there is Fun in funeral. I digress.

If you can't figure out how to use the site let me know, I'll see what I can do; or try the little Help button (don't worry it’s not a paper clip.) Right have fun! I think we should all try to check in here at least once a week. I look forward to our posts!
